Jamaica Outreach 2011
The Beulah Baptist Institutional Church's Jamaica Outreach Ministry left Tampa on Thursday June 2, 2011 and is set to return Sunday June 13th. The Ministry provided free medical care to people on the island nation who may otherwise never get medical attention. The group was smaller this year because of the tight economy gripping much of the nation. We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for His continued blessing during this job He commissioned. The team's dedication to spreading God's word and providing quality health care is unyielding. | Jamaican Outreach MinistryThe Jamaica Outreach Ministry is dedicated to serving the needs of the people of Jamaica. The ministry travels to the island nation to provide free medical care. From the Department of State Website: Medical care is more limited than in the United States. Comprehensive emergency medical services are located only in Kingston and Montego Bay. There are smaller public hospitals located in each parish. Emergency medical and ambulance services, and prescription drugs are limited in outlying parishes. Ambulance service is limited both in the quality of emergency care and availability vehicles in remote parts of the country. Serious medical problems requiring hospitalization and/or medical evacuation to the United States can cost thousands of dollars or more. Doctors and hospitals in Jamaica often require cash payment prior to providing services. |
