Title: Minister of Music
Status: Part-time, Exempt
Reports to: Pastor/Advisory Board/Music Council
Position Summary
The Minister of Music directs the organization and implementation of a comprehensive church music program including choir, vocal and/or instrumental ensembles. He/she serves as a leader in the worship services, giving direction to the hymns, congregational singing, choirs, and other phases of worship. He/she is responsible for maintaining and creating a flow within worship services that will create the appropriate spiritual atmosphere. The Minister of Music is a member of the Church Music Ministry Council and Advisory Board and is responsible for keeping these units well informed of the entire music ministry functions. He/she coordinates the music programming with the church calendar and is responsible for planning and selecting the music for all church congregational services and special programs.
Experience
-
Five or more years leading a congregation in public musical worship, with a commitment to professionaldevelopment (i.e. training and continued education)

Demonstrates a knowledge of a wide variety of musical styles, including traditional and contemporary worship music with the ability to teach these varying styles to the choir.

Advanced musical proficiency in piano across a variety of styles with the ability to instruct in vocal techniques and communicate/teach parts effectively. Organ skills is a plus.

Exhibits strong leadership skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships.

Highly effective planner with excellent time management and organizational skills

Detail oriented, flexible, and decisive, with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, delegate, build consensus, and meet deadlines.
